Plan Your Visit

Greenwood Gardens is closed for the season and will reopen May 3, 2024.

Removed from modernity, yet located less than an hour from Manhattan, we invite you to experience the splendor of Greenwood’s formal gardens. Designed in the early 20th Century, the garden beckons visitors to connect with nature in a peaceful and serene setting.

At Greenwood you will be stepping back through 100 years of history to encounter formal terraced gardens, Arts and Crafts follies, stately fountains, hidden grottoes, romantic woodlands, and winding paths. You can visit with our turkeys and geese, linger on a comfortable bench, and take in the sights and sounds of nature at its best.  Our hope is that during your time at Greenwood, you will experience the revitalization of all your senses.

You should allot 75 minutes to fully appreciate the gardens.

For the enjoyment of all visitors, and to ensure a memorable experience while at Greenwood, advance registration is strongly encouraged. Entry to the Garden is by vehicle only. Parking is complimentary. Self-guided Garden Guides and Maps will be provided at the Ticket Kiosk, or you may also download the Garden Guide in advance by clicking here.

We look forward to your visit!

A note about accessibility

The restored Main Terrace with partial views of the gardens is accessible to all visitors. The remainder of the historic landscape at Greenwood remains true to its original design with uneven terrain and stairs that can be difficult to navigate and therefore, is not wheelchair- or stroller-accessible. We do, however, offer accessible parking and public restrooms. We also offer stroller parking on the Main Terrace. Certified service animals are welcome.

Comfortable outdoor walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.

To help protect yourself against ticks, which are prevalent in New Jersey, please use tick spray and check yourself for ticks after leaving.
