This class led by former Martha Stewart radio host Betsy Karetnick addresses the eternal sentiment: “I don’t have any luck with hydrangea”. Learn the secrets to successful hydrangeas inside and out. We will start outside by explaining how to grow and care for hydrangeas. Learn why sometimes the prettiest ones don’t bloom. This class will show how to work with grocery store hydrangeas that fail when you least expect it. Plenty of design ideas to boot! DIY for your next party! $45 members; $55 non-members. Haunted Greenwood with founder Peter P. Blanchard III

Plants for Autumn Interest with Bruce Crawford, Director of Rutgers Gardens

Learn about autumn perennials and annuals. This lecture covers how to fill your borders with interesting color palettes, and design and care tips. An adjunct professor in Landscape Architecture Department at Rutgers University, Bruce Crawford designs and manages the 180 acres of the Rutgers Gardens. $20 members; $30 non-members Registration required.

Nature Writing with founder, Peter P. Blanchard III

Peter P. Blanchard III, naturalist, writer and painter, has explored Greenwood since his childhood here. Join him as he shares his passion for nature through the craft of nature writing. Peter will guide you through exercises in written observation and expression and through readings from the work of established authors. Writing pads, pencils and pens will be supplied. Painting Central Park Talk & Book Signing with author, Roger Pasquier

Roger Pasquier will speak about his book Painting Central Park and the enduring inspiration provided by the landscapes of Frederick Law Olmsted. From its creation in 1860 and through the present, many major American and European painters have painted aspects of Central Park. Roger Pasquier is an art historian and ornithologist who grew up playing and birdwatching in Central Park. Book signing and wine and cheese reception follows.
$25 members; $35 non-members or $85 members; $95 non-members, with book.
