Bees, Birds & Butterflies

Saturday, July 8
Noon – 5:00 p.m.
Join us for a day of discoveries and delights as we learn about beneficial and fascinating “Bees, Birds, & Butterflies”! Grownups and children alike will enjoy meeting bird and insect experts at Greenwood Gardens. Beekeepers from Bee Haven, sponsored by Overlook Medical Center, will demonstrate honey extraction, how beekeepers care for bees, and why these pollinators are so important to our world.

Experts from the New Jersey Audubon Society will provide an educational program on hummingbirds for children. In addition to discussing the hummingbird feeders in our garden, stuffed birds and nests will be used to teach about this fascinating species.

There will be storytelling focusing on birds, butterflies and bees on the Tea House lawn with the Millburn Free Public Library. On the Main Lawn participants can enjoy crafts, face painting, cookie decorating and delicious edibles for sale: Lunches from La Cucina de Clemenza, and Penguin Ice and beverages will be available.

Participants who join us for this day of learning and fun will be invited to help release live butterflies into the garden at 4:45 pm and to take “selfies” at our new stations.

The first 50 guests will receive a jar of local honey (one per family). General admission is $10; Adults 65+ and Students with ID $5. The event is free to Greenwood Gardens members and children under 12. Activity tickets are available onsite. For ease of entry, purchase tickets early. Walk-ins welcome.
