Let the peace and beauty of Greenwood Gardens enhance your experience with Qigong. This ancient practice utilizes movement, breathing, and mindfulness to support and enhance health, longevity, and spiritual connectivity. An experienced Qigong instructor, Carl will focus this session on the Eight Pieces of Brocade, a classic series of movements from which anyone can benefit. These movements will be performed in different locations throughout the gardens. Beginners welcome.

With a glass of wine in hand, stroll through the Main Axis. Take part in a friendly game of croquet, harking back to the early 1900s when the Day family enjoyed this area of the garden. We’ll discuss the changes in the landscape over the years in this part of the garden known as the “Croquet Terrace” and revel in nature on this Summer Solstice.

Join us for the second in a series of three intimate outdoor jazz concerts set on the West Terrace of historic Greenwood Gardens, a 28-acre formal garden and former estate built during the Jazz Age.
Abel Mireles is a Mexican-American saxophonist, composer, educator and entrepreneur. His “LatiNext” project is a blend of Mexican folkloric music and jazz. The ensemble is comprised of members that share cultural influences and diversity. Through this unique project Abel explores the experience of the Mexican-American community in New York City and how its cultural influences contribute to the essence of the metropolis.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and attendees are invited to stroll through the garden before the concert begins. Wine and cheese will be served under the tent on the West Terrace at 6:00 p.m. before the music starts at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy an hour and a half of some of the finest jazz in town in a unique and beautiful outdoor setting!

Discover the differences between the three homes that have graced the property and hear about the history of the iconic structures that dot the site. A tour of the first floor of the Main House includes a discussion of the elegant Zuber wallpaper, and interior art pieces original to the home.

Vanessa Perea will take the stage with her quintet, featuring Robert Edwards on trombone. Vanessa is a NYC-based jazz vocalist whose style embodies the tradition of the masters, with a beautiful sound, sweeping range, and heavy swing feel. She has performed with jazz greats including George Cables, Dwayne Burno, Pasquale Grasso, Adam Birnbaum, and many others.
