The unassuming nature of the late Peter Parrott Blanchard III belied his deep well of knowledge, passionate commitment to the natural world, stunning artistic ability, and a profound sense of humanity for his fellow man. It isn’t surprising that this graduate of Princeton University and Yale University’s graduate School of Forestry, along with the dedicated and enthusiastic help of his partner in life, Sofia A. Blanchard, set out to turn the home in which he grew up into a source of revitalization for all. Peter relished sharing his love of nature and the arts with Greenwood’s visitors, skillfully leading tours and workshops about our turkeys, the art of nature journaling, the site’s geological history, and much more. Thanks to his efforts, today Greenwood Gardens is a thriving public garden, visited by thousands each year. For everything he accomplished with such abiding grace and humility over the course of twenty years, we dedicate An Enchanted Evening to Peter and look forward to celebrating with you on this special evening.
